About the Company
A well-established Insurance Company is currently looking to hire an experienced UAE National to head their Risk & Compliance team in Dubai.
About the Role
- This job involves the development and delivery of a regulatory compliance strategy, framework and plans to ensure regulatory requirements are controlled.
- You will spend your time; developing and implementing a local regulatory risk and compliance framework, providing advice and expertise to the Executive Management and to the Board and Audit and Risk Committee (as required) and ensuring mechanisms are in place to identify, assess, escalate and resolve compliance issues and mitigate business impact.
- You will interact with colleagues to provide regulatory expertise on significant corporate transactions, new products and services, distribution arrangements and restructuring.
- You will work with the regulator to reach mutually beneficial decisions.
- You will act as the registered Compliance Officer and MLRO in all interactions with the local regulatory bodies.
- Devising, agreeing and driving delivery of a strategic plan for Regulatory Compliance and ensuring that an operating plan is delivered that will provide the Executive Management and to the Board and Audit and Risk Committee with all relevant information and objective assurance regarding the effectiveness of regulatory risk management, governance and control processes.
- Embedding and maintaining a Regulatory Risk Framework that is ‘fit for purpose’ and includes policies, standards and controls that meet regulatory requirements, Group Risk requirements and protect the Group’s reputation.
- Establishing and maintaining the AML/CFT policies and procedures; and ensuring compliance with the AML Law, policies and procedures and any other applicable AML/CFT legislation.
- Acting as the main point of contact in respect of handling internal suspicious transactions reports from and as the main contact for the Financial Intelligence Unit, the local regulatory bodies and other concerned bodies regarding AML/CFT.
- Making external suspicious transactions reports to the Financial Intelligence Unit and Compliance Directorate
About the Individual
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Insurance or equivalent
- CII/ ACII Certification preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Solid understanding of the entire compliance remit with knowledge on AML,CFT legislation.

About the Role
- Managing and developing the General Insurance team in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
- Building and maintaining ongoing relationships with clients
- Negotiating quotation requests with insurers to provide clients with the most suitable insurance solution
- Managing new and existing book of business
- Assisting in claims management and providing technical support when needed
- Support the commercial team in the cross selling and renewal exercise by meeting with key clients and prospects when required
- Manage and optimize the servicing process for General Insurance policies
- Plan and co-ordinate renewal strategies.
- Achieve optimum profitability on individual client accounts
- Monitor and report development, trends and issues in the client relationship.
- Educate clients on the technical aspects of insurance coverage and wordings. Manage client expectations through market, insurance and sector briefings.
- Develop overall account strategies and direct activities for new and existing clients
- Actively developing new business and growing existing business
- Determine the optimum strategy and structure for placing a risk. Place, Monitor, supervise and guide placements on a day-to-day basis.
About the Individual
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business Administration or equivalent
- CII/ ACII Certification preferred
- Minimum 5 – 7 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to Building strong relationships with colleagues, partners and customers and work effectively cross-functions (Sales, Account Management, Operations)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Must possess large book of business (comprising of Medical and General Business)
- Strong market & technical acumen and knowledge on DHA & HAAD guidelines
