A multinational Insurance Company is looking for a qualified and experienced Managing Director to head up their business in Egypt.

About the Role

REPORTING TO: Regional CEO – MEA, Board of Directors


Management role to lead and execute strategies for Egypt, responsibility for P&L objectives whilst ensuring governance and control environment is to the highest possible standards. The MD position operates within regulatory framework boundaries and protection of regulatory standing and the Company’s reputation. This includes adherence to the company’s risk and governance policies, with a focus and oversight on ensuring the Company operates within the local regulatory framework. The role includes a strong focus on People leadership, and it is expected the MD to play an important role in coaching and motivating staff as well as to foster people development. The MD position is a role that is delegated by the Board Members to be responsible for the executive management of the Company; the role will also have a direct reporting line to the Managing Director of MEA.


  • Lead and drive the delivery of the key performance indicators across the Strategic, Financial, Organizational and Operational perspective of the Company
  • Manage country operation with direct managerial responsibility
  • Represents the Company’s interests with major stakeholders such as Government and Regulatory bodies, business Chambers, trade and industry.
  • Supervise, manage and oversee the operations with direct managerial responsibility for certain functions and with matrix supervisory responsibilities for others as defined by the Company’s organizational design structures
  • Work with product leaders to ensure local strategies are continually adapted to meet changing landscapes whilst focusing on the Company’s P&L is managed according to agreed budgets
  • Bring together functions and product lines to achieve aggressive production and expense targets
  • Continually meet regulators and participate in industry forums to represent the Company’s interests
  • Focus on developing bench strength and ensuring teams remain focused on the Company’s objectives during a period of organizational and operational change
  • Liaise with executives across the Company to ensure Egypt is represented in zonal discussions
  • Support and promote a robust governance framework around Risk, Audit, and Compliance and budgets at a country level

About the Individual

  • Track record of managing large complex business operations
  • Proven leadership record of managing and leading a diverse team
  • Deep understanding of regulatory, risk and compliance landscape
  • Demonstrated level of integrity and ethical standards
  • Demonstrated experience in participating at a board of director level
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience in the insurance sector. (Evidence to be provided for FRA examination and approval)
  • Proficiency in English, Arabic is an advantage


Salary commensurate based on Candidates’ experience
